About Frank
Frank Kinyon is the Beverage and Service Director of a.kitchen+bar and serves as the Wine Director for the group.
Prior to joining the a.kitchen+bar team, Frank built out his career starting at Osteria, a fine-dining, seasonal Italian restaurant in Philadelphia, where he learned under the guidance of Lead Sommelier Elizabeth Flamini. After about a year in his role at Osteria, Frank became the floor Sommelier, where he eventually took over the beverage program. In that year, the restaurant earned Two Glasses from Wine Spectator. Frank grew an eye for unique and natural wine, bringing him to the a.kitchen+bar team in 2017, where he focuses on overseeing the forward-thinking and edgy wine program.
Throughout his career, Frank has earned a number of glowing accolades in the industry, including Wine Spectator’s Award of Excellence, earning one glass in 2017 and two glasses in 2018 at Osteria, and one glass in 2020 and 2022 at a.kitchen+bar. Frank is also a WSET Level Three Sommelier. Most recently, Frank guided the a.kitchen+bar team to be a semi-finalist for the 2024 James Beard Foundation Awards Outstanding Wine and Other Beverages Program. The same year, he was named a “Rising Star Sommelier” by StarChefs, and a.kitchen+bar was recognized by The New York Times in their list of the “25 Best Restaurants in Philadelphia” as well as in the Inquirer’s “The 76: The most vital restaurants in the Philly area” list. Most recently, in 2025, a.kitchen+bar was named one of Wine Spectator’s favorite wine bars under the distinct beverage leadership of Frank.
When Frank is not working and swirling wine, you can find him studying Japanese, learning how to play the banjo, and reading about…wine! He resides in South Philadelphia with his terriers Buck Buck.
